Bernadette. Peters was born Bernadette. Lazzara in Ozone Park Queens New York on 28 February 1948 is a songwriter/singer and an author of children's books. In an extensive career spanning five decades she has starred in musical theatre film and television and has also performed as a solo artist and recording. She's been nominated for seven Tony Awards and won two and eight Drama Desk Awards. Grammy Awards have been won with four Broadway cast recordings that Peters' role was featured on. Peters was first on stage as a kid, then at the age of a teenager in 1960s. The 1970s were when she was acting in films and TV. In addition to her work in The Muppet Show, The Carol Burnett Show, and in other TV work she was also praised for the roles that she had been in Annie and Silent Movie. In the 80s She returned to Broadway which was where for more than three decades she was among Broadway's most popular stars. She has also released 6 solo albums as well as several singles, in addition to several cast albums. In addition, she performs regularly in her own solo show. Peters has also continued to appear in films and on television and has been recognized for her work with 3 Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards which she has won once.
